THE ORCHARD
It would seem a strange place to be the heart of a Galgo Rescue Sanctuary, but this is indeed what the Orchard at 112Carlotagalgos is.
Most of the dogs are housed here and have the run of, and the shade of the fruit trees, greatly needed when the full force of the summer sun beats down on the scorched, dusty ground. A ground which the Galgos dig into under the trees in order to gain respite from the heat.
But an Orchard it is, where fruit on the trees and Galgos under these trees are allowed to grow, blossom, ripen and mature together in a harmony that pleases ones heart and soul. Under Charlotte and Dionis' careful eye these beautiful dogs will find their welcoming forever homes.
The trees, like the dogs have to be fed and watered in order for them to flourish and come to fruition.
They both have barks, and limbs. A broken tree limb is easily pruned back ready for next years growth, whereas a broken Galgo limb, of which there are quite a few on arrival at the Orchard have to be repaired through a lengthy process of VETS, CARE, TLC and of course FINANCE.
But repaired they are, along with broken souls and minds, allowing them to reach their full potential.
The strength of the trees is in the roots they put down, so the strength in the Orchard is in the roots being put down by Charlotte and Dioni.
At the moment the orange trees are straining under the weight of lovely, wonderful ripening fruit, and Charlotte, this past year, has seen the fruits of her labour in the form of many wonderful babes leaving for their forever loving homes.
So, perhaps it is not that strange after all to have an Orchard at the heart of 112Carlotagalgos…………….
